  • 1 1/2 t vanilla
  • 2 T of milk use enough milk to make a spreadable frosting not runny

Instructions
  1. Mix thoroughly shortening, sugar, eggs, and flavoring.
  2. Blend in flour, baking powder, and salt
  3. Cover, chill at least 1 hour
  4. Heat oven to 400 degrees
  5. Roll dough 1/8 inch thick on lightly floured cloth-covered board.
  6. Cut into desired shapes.
  7. Place on ungreased baking sheet.
  8. Bake 6 to 8 minutes or until very light brown.
  9. Do not use self-rising flour in this recipe
  10. Let cookies cool.
  11. Divide frosting into different bowls
  12. Add food coloring and mix to desired color shade
  13. Hints add other flavorings like lemon; to the yellow frosting, coco; to make chocolate, peppermint; for red, and etc.

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening

Instructions
  1. Cream until fluffy, butter, shortening, sugar, vanilla and eggs
  2. Stir in dry ingreients until mixture is smooth.
  3. Blend in 2 Tablespoons mild.
  4. Drop by teaspoon full onto ungreased pan.
  5. Flatten with glass dipped in sugar
  6. Can sprinkle decorators colored sugar on top before baking
  7. Bake 400 degrees about 12 minutes

  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t Salt

  • 1 pkg Nestle's semi-sweet mint flavored chocolate morsels
  • 2/3 cup shortening
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 1 3/4 cup sifted flour
  • 2 t baking soda
  • 1 t cinnamon
  • 1/4 t Salt
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 350 Degrees
  2. Melt 1 package Nestle’s semi-sweet mint flavored chocolate morsels over hot; not boilng water (double boiler)
  3. Combine shortening, sugar and egg.
  4. And beat until creamy
  5. Blend in melted chocolate and corn syrup.
  6. Sift together
  7. Flour, baking soda, cinnamon and salt.
  8. And stir in gradually.
  9. Shape into balls using 1 level T for each cookie
  10. Roll balls of dough in sugar (about ¼ cup)
  11. Place 3” apart on ungreased cookie sheet.
  12. Bake 350 degree for about 15 minutes
  13. Let stand a few minutes before removing from pan

  1. Preheat oven to 200 Degrees
  2. Divide popcorn on to 2 ungreased pans
  3. Heat sugar, butter, syrup, salt until bubbly around edges
  4. Cook 5 minutes medium heat
  5. Remove from heat
  6. Stir in soda until foamy.
  7. Stir onto corn until covered
  8. Bake 1 hour stirring every 15 minutes

  1. Cream sugar and shortening until fluffy.
  2. Add eggs, Anise and mix well.
  3. Sift flour, baking powder and salt. Add to first mixture a little at a time and knead until well mixed.
  4. Add wine and enough water to hold together.
  5. Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut into funny shapes.
  6. Sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar and bake 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

Owned cabin in Como. Is one of the men that got my dad to buy a cabin in South Park. First cabin was up the Selkirk. An old corrugated cabin. Cabin was on a mining claim. In 1958 (give or take) mom and dad bought the cabin just down from the school house in Como.
